FBI Background Check

What information is found on an FBI Background Check?

FBI Background Checks are comprehensive criminal background checks. The reports include everything from parking tickets, traffic violations, and arrests to misdemeanor and felony convictions and inclusion on sex offender or terrorist registries.

Who provides this information?

FBI Background Checks are based on data from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database, sex offender and terrorist watchlist databases, and the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). Government agencies, the legal justice system, and police jurisdictions nationwide rely on these resources.

Who is eligible to receive an FBI Background Check?

Reports are available for US citizens and resident aliens.

How does the submission process work?

Our experienced Fingerprint Technicians efficiently capture fingerprints using our LiveScan technology, then transmit the encrypted fingerprint scans directly to the FBI for processing.

How long does the process take?

Results can be ready in as little as 48 hours.

FDLE Submissions

What is the purpose of an FDLE Fingerprint Submission? 

Out-of-state residents often need to submit required documentation through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to complete transactions such as renewing professional licenses in Florida.  Only an authorized vendor of the FDLE can complete these submissions

What is the process for completing an FDLE Fingerprint Submission?

Our experienced fingerprint technician will capture your fingerprints using our LiveScan technology. Once we have your securely encrypted LiveScan fingerprint captures, we can complete the transmission of all relevant information directly to the FDLE. All you need is the Originating Routing Identifier (ORI number) for the requesting agency.

How long does this process take?

Results can be ready in as little as 24 – 72 hours.

ATF EFT File for eForm Submissions

What is the purpose of an ATF EFT file?

An ATF EFT file makes it simple to meet the fingerprint requirements when submitting the most often requested electronic ATF forms, eForms 1 and 4.

How does the ATF EFT file process work?

Our experienced Fingerprint Technician creates an electronic profile containing your fingerprint scans, which will be sent to the email address you provide. You can easily attach this ETF file to your eForm 1 or 4.

This electronic file can be used multiple times for successful submission to the ATF.

What is Fingerprint Archiving?

Fingerprint Archiving is the process of capturing digital fingerprint scans and storing them on a safe, securely encrypted platform for future use.

Why would I want my fingerprints archived?

Fingerprint archiving services are ideal if you have frequent fingerprint requirements. Fingerprints can be retrieved and printed onto fingerprint cards or electronically transmitted quickly and securely at your request.  

What is the process for archiving fingerprints?

AZ Biometrics has invested in innovative fingerprint archiving technology. Our experienced Fingerprint Technicians will secure scans of your fingerprints, which are then encrypted and stored on our secured archiving platform.

Is it safe to store copies of my biometric data?

Our highest priority is the security and confidentiality of our customers’ personally identifiable information (PII). All archived data is fully encrypted and stored on a secure server, and can only be released to authorized recipients at your request.

What is an Apostille?

An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates identity and status to conduct business in a foreign country.

Who should get an Apostille?

US citizens planning to live, work, or go to school in a foreign country that participates in the Hague Treaty may need an Apostille.

What is the process to get an Apostille?

Apostilles are issued by the Secretary of State.

While anyone can obtain an Apostille, our customers trust us to help simplify a process that can often be both confusing and time-consuming.

If I opt for digital fingerprints, how long is my personal information stored?

By law, all information captured by LiveScan technology must be kept in a secure, locked area and destroyed within 40 days of capture.

At AZ Biometrics, we highly value the importance of treating your personally identifiable information (PII) with the highest levels of confidentiality and security. We invite you to refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.

What information is included in a FBI Background Check?

Because it accesses a national criminal database, FBI Background Checks are very accurate and comprehensive. 

Information in the report covers everything from arrest and conviction history and military service records to moving traffic violations and  parking tickets.

How long does it take the ATF to process eForms 1 and 4?

According to the National Gun Trusts’ website, the ATF processing time for eForm 1 is 45 days versus 55 days for the paper-based submission.

Using eForm 4 reduces the processing time to 193 days instead of the 253 days it takes to process paper submissions.
